The Duration column is how you tell Rundown how long each row is planned to run. Durations drive the show's auto-calculated start times, the runtime clock, and any Preset Time columns — change a duration and everything downstream or upstream recalculates instantly.
You can also hide a duration or mute it, which is useful for planning rows, placeholder items, or content you don't want factored into the running schedule.
Who can use it?
Only Admins and Showcallers can add, edit, or delete Duration values. All crew members can see the column once it has been added and can reorder or hide it from their personal view.
Adding the Duration Column
Click the + button in the rundown toolbar to open the Add Column dialog.
Open the Column Type dropdown and select Duration.
The title will auto-fill as Duration — rename it if needed.
Click Add Column.
Setting a Duration
Click any Duration cell in the rundown.
A popover opens with hours, minutes, and seconds inputs.
Type the duration. Tab or arrow between fields.
Press Enter or click outside the popover to save.
Duration Display Formats
Durations can be displayed in several formats, adjustable from the column setings. The selected format applies across the rundown page, PDF export, Guest Pass, and Word export.

Hiding a Duration
Hiding a duration removes it from view entirely and excludes it from all timing calculations. Use this for rows that don't represent runnable content — a placeholder, a planning note, a commercial break you don't want to factor in.
Click the Duration cell.
Click Hide in the popover.
Hidden durations don't affect start times, the runtime clock, or any Preset Time columns. Click the cell again and choose Show to bring the value back — the underlying duration is preserved.
Muting a Duration
Muting is a lighter-touch alternative to hiding. A muted duration stays visible (with a strikethrough) but is skipped when calculating downstream start times and the runtime clock. Use this when you want to keep the planned value on the rundown for reference but not have it affect the schedule.
Click the Duration cell.
Click Mute duration in the popover.
The value now renders with a line through it. To bring it back into the calculation, open the popover again and click Unmute duration.
Mute vs. Hide — which to use?
Mute — You still want to see the planned duration, but don't want it to affect start times. Good for held items, editorial reference, or "aspirational" durations you haven't committed to yet.
Hide — You don't want the duration visible at all, and you don't want it in the math. Good for placeholder or non-runnable rows.
How Durations Drive the Show
Start Time columns add each row's duration to the previous row's start time.
Preset Time columns count up and down from anchor rows using durations between them.
Runtime clock in the header ticks up by the sum of row durations.
Over/Under tracking compares actual tracked time against the planned duration.
Muted and hidden durations are excluded from all four.
Duration in PDF Export and Guest Pass
The Duration column is included in PDF exports, Guest Pass links, and Word exports. Values respect the show's duration display format. Muted values render with a strikethrough; hidden values render blank.
Notes
Duration cells are permission protected. Only admins & Showcallers can update them.
Only one Duration column can exist per rundown.
Changing a duration recalculates downstream times instantly and broadcasts the change to all users in real time
