Transfer Account Ownership to Another User

How to hand your Shoflo account to someone else: add them as a Team Admin, update the billing contact email, and remove the previous owner.

If you're leaving your organization or handing your Shoflo account to a colleague, you can transfer ownership in three steps. Shoflo doesn't have a separate owner role: your account belongs to your team, and Team Admins have full control over it. Transferring ownership means making the new owner a Team Admin, pointing your team's contact email at whoever should receive billing emails, and removing the previous owner once they leave.

Your events, rundowns, templates, and Global Elements belong to your team, not to any one person, so nothing needs to be moved.

Who can do this?

You need to be a Team Admin to add or remove Team Admins and to change Team Settings.

  • Steps 1 and 2 can be done by the current owner or any other Team Admin.

  • Step 3 is done by the new owner. Shoflo doesn't let you remove yourself as a Team Admin, so the new owner removes the previous one.

Step 1: Add the new owner as a Team Admin

Skip this step if the new owner is already listed on the Team admins tab.

  1. Go to your Team Dashboard.

  2. Click the Team admins tab.

  3. Click Invite team admins.

  4. In the Email field, type the new owner's email address and press Enter. If they're already on one of your team's events, you can pick them from the suggestions instead.

  5. Click Send.

What happens next depends on whether they already have a Shoflo login:

  • They already have a Shoflo account: they become a Team Admin right away and get an email letting them know.

  • They're new to Shoflo: they get an email inviting them to set up an account. If it doesn't arrive, click the ⋯ menu next to their email on the Team admins tab and choose Resend.

Note: Team Admins always count as active users. If adding the new owner takes your team past its licensed user limit, additional charges may apply until the previous owner is removed in Step 3. See Active User Management for details.

Step 2: Update your team's contact email (if needed)

The Email in Team Settings is your team's main point of contact, and it's where Shoflo sends billing emails such as invoices and receipts. If it's still the previous owner's address, change it to whoever should receive those emails from now on. This doesn't have to be the new owner: a finance contact or a shared billing inbox works too.

Skip this step if the person receiving billing emails isn't changing.

  1. Go to your Team Dashboard.

  2. Click your team name at the top of the page, then select Team Settings.

  3. In the Edit team settings dialog, replace the Email with the new address.

  4. Click Save.

Step 3: Remove the previous owner

Once the previous owner has left, or no longer needs access, the new owner removes them:

  1. Go to your Team Dashboard.

  2. Click the Team admins tab.

  3. Find the previous owner and click Remove next to their name.

  4. When asked Are you sure?, click Yes.

A message confirms they've been removed from the team. They lose Team Admin access to your team's events and settings.

Removing a Team Admin doesn't take them off events where they were also added as crew. If the previous owner is still listed on an event's Crew tab, remove them there too. Until you do, they keep access to that event and count as an active user until it ends.

Optional: Hand over event ownership

Each event also has an Owner, the point person for that event. If the previous owner is set as the Owner on any events, the new owner can take them over:

  1. On the Team Dashboard, click the ⋯ menu next to the event.

  2. Select Edit event settings.

  3. Choose a new Owner and click Save.

Good to know

  • Their login stays. Removing someone from your team doesn't delete their Shoflo user account, and any other teams they belong to aren't affected.

  • Previous owner already gone? If they've left and nobody else on your team is a Team Admin, contact our support team through the chat and we'll help you get access.
