The Start Time column shows the planned clock time each row is scheduled to begin. Start times are auto-calculated from your row durations, so as the rundown is built out every row's start time falls into place automatically. You can also set an anchor to pin the timing to a hard start, or type a start time directly onto a row to override the calculated value.
Change a duration or move a row and every start time downstream (or upstream of an anchor) recalculates instantly and updates for everyone on the show in real time.
Who can use it?
Only Admins and Show Callers can add the Start Time column, set anchors, and enter or override times. All crew members can see the column once it has been added, and can reorder or hide it from their personal view.
Adding the Start Time Column
Click the + button in the rundown toolbar to open the Add Column dialog.
Open the Column Type dropdown and select Start Time.
The title will auto-fill as Start Time. Rename it if needed.
Click Add Column.
Note: Only one Start Time column can exist per rundown. If you don't see the option, check whether the column is hidden, or if it is archived you can restore it.
How start times are calculated
By default, start times flow from your row durations. Each row begins when the previous row ends, so the column reads straight down the rundown as a running schedule. If no anchor is set, the first row is treated as the starting point.
Because the times are derived from durations, you rarely need to type anything. Adjust a duration and the rows below shift automatically.
Setting an anchor
An anchor pins a row to a fixed point so the schedule is built around it. Rows below the anchor count forward from it and rows above it count backward toward it, all based on the durations in between.
Click the Start Time cell on the row you want to anchor.
Click Set anchor in the popover.
The anchor row displays in green. Rows below count forward from it, and rows above count backward toward it.
You can set multiple anchors. When you do, each row re-times to the nearest anchor, so each anchor effectively starts its own segment of the show.
To remove an anchor, open the popover and click Clear anchor. The row goes back to auto timing calculated from durations.
Overriding a start time (Gap and Overlap)
Sometimes a row needs to start at a specific clock time that doesn't match the calculated value. You can type a time directly onto the cell to override it.
Click the Start Time cell to open the time picker.
Enter the hours, minutes, and seconds (and AM/PM if your show uses a 12-hour clock).
Press Enter or click outside the popover to save.
When your entered time differs from the calculated time, the cell turns red to flag the override, and the popover shows the difference:
Auto: the time the row would start based on durations.
Override: the time you entered.
Gap: there is empty time between the previous row ending and this row starting.
Overlap: this row is set to start before the previous row finishes.
Hover the cell to see this detail at a glance in a tooltip.
Reading the direction arrows
Each calculated cell shows a small arrow next to its value so you can see how it was derived:
Down arrow: the row is counting forward from an anchor (or the top of the show) above it.
Up arrow: the row is counting backward toward an anchor below it.
No arrow (green): the row is an anchor you set yourself.
Overridden rows display in red when a gap or overlap is detected to distinguish them from purely calculated rows.
12-hour and 24-hour display
Start times follow the parent Event time setting. In 24-hour mode times display as 14:30:45. In 12-hour mode they display as 2:30:45pm. To adjust this change in event settings.
Showing or hiding a start time per row
You can toggle whether a row's start time is visible without losing the underlying value:
Click the Start Time cell for that row.
Click Hide start time on this row or Show start time on this row in the popover.
Hidden rows keep their calculated time and still count toward the timing of other rows. Toggling Show brings the value back into view.
Resetting an override
If a row has an override (a time you typed), you can clear it and return to auto timing:
Click the Start Time cell.
Click Reset in the popover.
The row goes back to the value calculated from durations and the surrounding anchors, and the red override styling clears.
Notes
Start Time cells are permission protected. Only Admins and Show Callers can set anchors, enter times, or override them.
Only one Start Time column can exist per rundown.
Start times are calculated from row durations. Rows with no duration are treated as 0 seconds.
Muted or hidden durations are skipped in start-time calculations.
Changing a duration, adding a row, or moving a row recalculates start times instantly and broadcasts the change to everyone on the show in real time.
