Global Elements 2.0 is the new version of Global Element Manager, rebuilt into the the rundown application. To use an existing element set in 2.0, you need to migrate it. This article walks through the migration process.
Before you start
Migration is required to access an element set in 2.0 Until you migrate, you won't be able to use it.
Your original element set is not affected from the migration.
Each element set is migrated individually, so you can move sets over one at a time.
Who can migrate element sets?
Only users with the Team Admin role can access the migration screen. The Global Elements settings page is also hidden when the show is archived.
How to migrate an element set
Open a show in Rundown.
Click the options menu (the three dots) in the top-right of the rundown header.
Select Global Elements
You will see a list of your element sets under Migrate to Global Elements V2.
Sets that need migration show a Migration required label with a Migrate button.
Sets that have already been migrated show a green Migrated label with an Open button.
Click Migrate next to the set you want to convert.
Wait for the migration to finish. The button label and status update once the 2.0 set is ready.
Click Open to load the migrated set in the Global Elements panel.
What you will see after migration
A green check icon and the label Migrated next to the set name.
An Open button that loads the gem panel for that set.
The set becomes available in the gem panel's element set selector for any show on the team.
Shortcut: Global Elements from the options menu
Once you have at least one 2.0 element set on the team, the Global Elements menu item in the rundown options menu opens the panel directly. If you have no migrated sets yet, that menu item takes you to the Global Elements settings page so you can start the migration.
Next steps
Once your set is migrated, the next step is learning how to actually use it. Read How to Use Global Elements for a full walkthrough of the panel, column mapping, dragging elements into your rundown, and publishing updates to other shows.
Notes
Migration only copies the element set into 2.0. Your original element set stays unmodified so existing workflows in the legacy app continue to work.
