Expanded Cell Editor

How to use the expanded cell editor to write and format script content, and use the read-time estimator to set row durations.

The Expanded Cell Editor opens a full-screen editing dialog. giving you more room to write and format content. It also includes a built-in word count and read-time estimator that can automatically set your row's duration.

Who can use it?

Contributors and Admins can open the expanded editor on any script or title column cell.

How to open it

There are two ways to open the expanded editor:

  • Right-click on any script or title cell and select Expand from the context menu.

  • Select a single cell, then click the dropdown arrow in the floating toolbar and choose Expand. (The expand option only appears when exactly one script or title cell is selected.)

Editing in the dialog

The expanded editor includes a full rich-text toolbar with:

  • Bold, Italic, Underline

  • Font size and text case (uppercase/lowercase)

  • Text color and highlight color

  • Text alignment (left, center, right)

  • Bulleted list

  • Insert link (requires text to be selected first)

  • Clear formatting

When you're done, click Save to apply your changes or Cancel to discard them.

Script stats and setting row duration

At the bottom of the editor you'll see a word count and an estimated read time based on your script's length.

  • Click the gear icon to adjust the reading speed preset: Slow, Medium, or Fast.

  • Click the estimated read time to set it as the row's duration. A confirmation popover will show the current duration and what it will change to before you confirm.
